PRESIDENT Prabowo Subianto will visit the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Egypt, Qatar, and Jordan to seek support for Indonesia’s plan to evacuate 1,000 residents of Gaza, Palestine.
The question is, what is the purpose of Indonesia’s plan to evacuate residents of Gaza that was initially proposed by the United States and Israel?
Heru Subagia, an alumnus of International Relations, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Gadjah Mada University, reminded that Israel and US President Donald Trump had previously expressed their intention to evacuate Gaza. That way, Israel can more freely occupy and control the region, then move its citizens to the occupied territory. In the end, within a certain time, Gaza will become part of the Greater Israel that they aspire to.

As Heru mentioned, as reported in the Middle East Monitor report, the term ‘Greater Israel’ refers to the expansion of Israeli territory and sovereignty to encompass what many Israelis describe as the promised land. For them, this includes the occupied West Bank and the Golan Heights, which are also occupied from Syria.
However, there is also a view that Israel’s borders will stretch from the Mediterranean Sea to the Euphrates River. This discourse was once touted by Israeli writer Avi Lipkin.
In a video clip, Lipkin said that Israel’s borders would stretch ‘from Lebanon to Saudi Arabia’. He described the area as the Great Desert connecting the Mediterranean Sea and the Euphrates River.
“And who is on the other side of the Euphrates? The Kurds, and the Kurds are friends. So, we have the Mediterranean behind us and the Kurds in front of us,” he said last January.
